Paweł Szeibel

Paweł Szeibel is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he teaches first-year painting. Holding a PhD in Fine Arts (2016), he graduated with distinction in 2008 after studying at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in Spain (2006-2007). His academic career is deeply intertwined with his artistic practice, working across painting, urban installations, and social campaigns.

Szeibel's research focuses on the intersection of art and nature, particularly how landscapes function as consumer products in contemporary society. Works like 'Laboratorium ruchu roślin' (2020) and 'Próba teorii formy i emocji' (2021) reveal his interest in documenting natural phenomena through artistic lenses, while projects like 'El paisaje' (2017) critically examine how tourism and social media have transformed our experience of natural landscapes.

The project has resulted in numerous workshops, exhibitions, and publications including two art books for young audiences. Szeibel has organized workshops with major cultural institutions including WRO Art Center, Medialab Katowice, Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art, and BWA Gallery of Contemporary Art in Katowice.

As part of his ongoing research, Szeibel has established collaborative networks with artists and specialists from various disciplines, creating a dynamic laboratory for interdisciplinary exploration at the intersection of art, nature, and education.
