Paweł Madejski is an Adjunct Professor with a habilitation degree at the Department of Ancient and Medieval History within the Faculty of History and Archeology at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. Born in 1976, he earned his MA in History from UMCS (2000) and a PhD in Early Roman Empire ideology and religion (2005). His habilitation in 2019 focused on revenge in Republican Rome. He has been employed at UMCS since 2005 and specializes in Roman and Greek religion, imperial ideology, ancient numismatics, and epigraphy.
Holds a background in Classical Philology from John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (2011-2014). Currently researching revenge mechanisms in ancient societies and the history of emotions in antiquity. Co-developing the Polish antiquity bibliography database www.eridanos.umcs.lublin.pl with colleagues. Active in public history initiatives, including epigraphic studies of 1944-1945 Lublin prison graffiti.
His academic output spans 20+ publications, with key works on Roman political violence, symbolic material analysis, and regional history. Collaborates on interdisciplinary projects with historian Katarzyna Madejska (his wife) and others.
