Pawel Sadowski

Dr Pawel Sadowski is a Research Fellow in Proteomics at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), leading the CARF Proteomics laboratory within the Faculty of Science’s School of Biology & Environmental Science. He joined QUT in 2013 after completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge, followed by postdoctoral research at New York University and the University of New South Wales. His work focuses on advancing quantitative proteomics methods, particularly using Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), to study biomarkers in animal health, behavior, and environmental adaptation. Collaborations include projects with UQ SVS and CARF Genomics to automate sample preparation and integrate SWATH-MS, deep learning, and long-read RNA sequencing (Iso-Seq).

Education: PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge (UK), followed by postdoctoral training at NYU (USA) and UNSW (Australia).

Research interests span quantitative mass spectrometry, proteomics, and multi-omics approaches. He develops data-independent acquisition (SWATH) and multi-reaction monitoring (MRM) techniques to identify biomarkers across species, with applications in animal health, environmental adaptation, and biomedical research. Key focus areas include improving proteomic workflows through robotics and computational pipelines.

Publications highlight advancements in proteomic analysis of extracellular vesicles, biomarker discovery in livestock, and innovative methods for studying environmental stress responses. Current supervision topics involve multi-omics strategies, long-read sequencing, and genome-to-phenome linkages.

Labs/Teams: Leads the CARF Proteomics laboratory, collaborating with Genomics and UQ SVS teams to advance proteomics infrastructure and analytical pipelines.
