معرفی
Professor Pavel Krtouš is a faculty member at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics since 2019 and was promoted to full Professor in 2018.
His educational background includes:
- Master's degree from Charles University's Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (1991)
- Ph.D. in Physics from University of Alberta (1997)
- Habilitation in Theoretical Physics at Charles University (2007)
- Professor title in Theoretical Physics (2017)
Professor Krtouš specializes in classical general relativity, quantum field theory in curved spacetimes, quantum gravity, and the interpretation of quantum mechanics. His research focuses on generalizing general relativity to higher dimensions, examining properties of rotating black holes, investigating hidden symmetries in relativistic systems, and studying gravitational and electromagnetic radiation in non-flat spacetimes. His work combines deep mathematical analysis with physical insights into spacetime structure.
His extensive publication record demonstrates expertise in black hole physics, with particular emphasis on higher-dimensional spacetimes, exact solutions, and hidden symmetries. The research shows a consistent trajectory from foundational studies of gravitational fields to advanced investigations of quantum aspects of black holes and spacetime singularities.
Notable awards:
- JČMF Medal of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, 1st degree for a series of works on the properties of multidimensional black holes (2008)
Professor Krtouš has secured numerous research grants, primarily through the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR), with continuous funding since 1997. He serves as principal investigator for several current projects investigating black hole spacetimes in general dimensions and advanced techniques for precise spacetimes with black holes and gravitational waves. His international collaborations include regular scientific stays at the University of Alberta, Perimeter Institute, and Cambridge University.
He leads the Relativistic group at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, which focuses on advanced theoretical investigations of gravitational physics, black hole phenomena, and mathematical aspects of general relativity.
