Paulo de Assis is a Senior Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium, and an elected member of the Swiss National Foundation for Science Research Council (2022-2030). As founder and Chair of the Deleuze and Artistic Research (DARE) conference series, and editor of the Artistic Research book series at Rowman & Littlefield, he bridges musical practice (as a classical and experimental pianist, composer, and stage director) with transdisciplinary philosophy.
- Principal Investigator of ERC Advanced Grant 'Posthuman Music: Creative Practices after AI and Blockchain' (2025-2030)
- Co-founder of the MetamusicX research group
- Director of the MusicExperiment21 project
His research explores experimental performance practices, Deleuzean philosophy, and digital humanities, with a focus on redefining musical interpretation through AI, blockchain, and posthumanist frameworks. Recent work examines the intersection of music, technology, and epistemology.
