Paulo Vasconcelos

Professor Paulo Vasconcelos serves as the Centre Director of the Centre for Geoanalytical Mass Spectrometry at the University of Queensland, where he also holds a professorship in the School of the Environment under the Faculty of Science. His academic credentials include a PhD from the University of California (Berkeley), alongside a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science (Coursework) from The University of Texas.

• Research Focus: Integrates Low-Temperature Geochemistry, Economic Geology, and 40Ar/39Ar Geochronology to study weathering processes, landscape evolution, and ore deposit genesis.
• Key Projects: Explore supergene enrichment in iron/manganese provinces, U-Th/He dating of oxide minerals, Cenozoic magmatism in Brazil/Australia, and Martian analogues via Queensland magnesite studies.
