معرفی
Fred Jourdan is a Professor of Geochronology and Geochemistry at Curtin University's School of Earth and Planetary Sciences. His research focuses on argon isotope geochemistry, geochronology of large igneous provinces, impact craters, and methodological advancements in 40Ar/39Ar dating. He manages the Western Australia Argon Isotope Facility, part of the John de Laeter Centre. Jourdan's work spans planetary sciences, terrestrial impacts, and volcanic processes, with notable contributions to understanding asteroid Vesta's history and the timing of mass extinctions linked to volcanic events.
Education: M.Sc. from University of Geneva; Ph.D. from University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis. Postdoctoral research at Berkeley Geochronology Center and University of Lausanne. Expertise includes noble gas mass spectrometry, clean laboratory techniques, and microprobe analysis.
Research interests include structural inheritance of dike swarms, U/Pb dating of subduction-related magmatism, and methodological studies of argon recoil and K decay constants. Over 200 publications, with recent work on Bennu asteroid samples, Martian Moons exploration, and Paleozoic volcanic chronology.
