Dr. Courtney J. Sprain is an Assistant Professor in Geosciences at the University of Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Science from UC Berkeley (2017). Her research operates at the geophysics-geochemistry interface, investigating Earth's dramatic historical events using paleomagnetism, numerical geodynamo simulations, and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology.
Her work focuses on long/short-term geomagnetic field trends and their implications for Earth's deep interior evolution, along with developing geochronologic constraints for mass extinction events. Research interests include:
