Paulo Regis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Southampton's Southampton Business School. He is recognized as a Fellow by Advance HE (FHEA) since 2015 and serves as the Director of Studies for the MSc International Banking and Financial Studies program. Previously, he held an Associate Professor position at Xi'an-Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) from 2008 after earning his PhD from the University of Nottingham.
- Research interests: Financial Development, Innovation, Infrastructure Economics, Chinese Economy, Systemic Risk, and Economic Integration.
His research focuses on macroprudential policy, credit access for SMEs, and regional development in China through infrastructure investment. He has published extensively in journals like the Journal of Financial Intermediation and Industrial and Corporate Change. Paulo is actively involved in supervising PhD students and welcomes applications in his research areas.
Recent publications explore topics such as remittances and inequality, industrial robotics and environmental impact, and the dynamics of sovereign debt in China. His work bridges theoretical and applied economics, with a strong emphasis on policy implications.
