Paulo H. Acioli is Professor in the Physics and Astronomy department at Northeastern Illinois University. His research integrates theoretical and computational approaches across condensed matter physics, nanocluster science, and physics education research.
Primary research areas include computational studies of metal clusters using density functional theory and quantum Monte Carlo methods, electronic structure analysis via photoelectron spectroscopy simulations, and pattern formation in complex systems. Additional work focuses on developing educational models for physics concepts through computational approaches.
Current NSF-funded projects explore experiential learning models and peer mentoring in STEM education. Publications demonstrate consistent innovation in computational method development and physics pedagogy.
