Pauline Turner Strong is a Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Program in Native American and Indigenous Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her academic leadership extends to roles such as Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee for the Humanities, Health, and Medicine master's program, alongside affiliations with Human Dimensions of Organizations, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and the Bridging Disciplines Program.

Her research interrogates the representation of Native American identities across literature, museums, and youth organizations, with current projects analyzing youth organizations' role in racial/gendered citizenship, Indigenous climate justice activism, and 21st-century U.S. higher education politics. Publications span journals in anthropology, cultural studies, and media analysis.
Recent articles focus on colonial captivity narratives, gender in anthropology, and historical ethnographic traditions. She has served as President of UT’s AAUP chapter and national organizations like the Society for Cultural Anthropology, with editorial roles at Cultural Anthropology.
She teaches courses in Cultural Anthropology, Health Humanities, and Museum Studies, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
