Pauline McBride

Dr. Pauline McBride is an Honorary Teaching Fellow at the School of Law, University of Glasgow, and teaches at Queen’s University, Belfast. She holds a doctorate from the University of Glasgow (2016) for her thesis 'Beyond Copyright: The Annexation of Looking by Contract'. Her expertise spans copyright and contract law, data protection, computer forensics, and commercial contracts. She previously practiced as a solicitor at law firm bto (Glasgow/Edinburgh), specializing in software licensing and IP.

Education: Law degree and PhD from the University of Glasgow.

Research Interests: Focus on the intersection of copyright and contract law, legal frameworks for data protection, and digital rights. Active in the Law Society of Scotland’s Technology Committee and member of CREATe.

Publications: Her work bridges legal and veterinary domains, including studies on livestock disease detection via thermography (2022) and digital content licensing (2017–2018). Her 2016 chapter explored cultural institutions’ website restrictions.

Affiliations: Member of CREATe research centre and Law Society of Scotland’s Technology Committee.
