Professor Paulina Kewes holds dual roles as the Helen Morag Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Jesus College and Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford. She completed her DPhil at Jesus College, Oxford (1996) and previously served as a Junior Research Fellow at University College, Oxford (1995-1997), before joining the University of Wales, Aberystwyth as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer (1997-2003). Her academic leadership includes chairing the Joint School of History and English, coordinating Research Staff and Students Training in the Faculty of English, and leading the Leverhulme Trust-funded project on succession controversies in Reformation England. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and contributes to editorial boards like the Oxford English Monographs Committee.
Her research focuses on Renaissance and early modern literature, political thought, classical reception, and historiography. Key publications include co-edited volumes on Stuart succession literature and Holinshed’s Chronicles. Teaching spans undergraduate courses on early modern literature and interdisciplinary history-literature modules, alongside postgraduate courses on Shakespeare, political drama, and classical influences.

- Awards: First woman Senior Member of the Oxford University Polish Society (2017-2022).
