Paula Weizman is a Lecturer in Hebrew at the University of Michigan’s Department of Near Eastern Studies. Her roles include coordinating Hebrew language courses at levels 100–200 since 2002 and earlier coordinating Hebrew 100 (1993–1995). With over three decades of experience, she began as a Lecturer I in 1987, advancing to Lecturer IV. She is affiliated with the Center for Middle Eastern & North African Studies (CMENAS) Faculty and the International Institute.
Paula holds a BA in Hebrew Linguistics and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University (1981), an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from Eastern Michigan University (1997), and an MSW in Interpersonal Practice from the University of Michigan (1997). She maintained a perfect GPA of 4.0 during her MSW program.
Her research focuses on Hebrew language pedagogy, including innovative teaching strategies, curriculum design, and computer-aided instruction. She has presented at national conferences, such as the National Association of Professors of Hebrew (NAPH), discussing topics like ‘Language Acquisition Activities Within a Formal Learning Environment’ (1993) and ‘Goals and Strategies for Teaching Language Skills in Hebrew’ (1992).
Awarded the Excellence in Education Award (1998), Paula is also recognized in the University of Michigan’s Excellent Teacher listings. Her professional contributions include supervising instructors, developing course materials, and leading staff meetings.
