Paula Rauhala is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of History, Philosophy and Literary Studies at Tampere University, where she is also a PhD student in Philosophy. Her research focuses on the reception of Karl Marx's works, particularly in divided Germany, and the historical and philosophical implications of Capital's translations. She specializes in Marxist theory, political economy, and the intellectual history of 20th-century socialism.
Her research interests include the Neue Marx-Lektüre movement, value theory debates in East Germany, and the global dissemination of Marx's ideas. She has been funded by institutions such as the Finnish Cultural Foundation (2014–2017), Tampereen kaupungin tiederahasto (2018), and the Emil Aaltonen Foundation (2019–2020). Rauhala is fluent in Finnish, English, German, and has proficiency in multiple other languages.
Her publications include peer-reviewed articles on Marx's legacy, co-authored chapters in The Routledge Handbook of Marx's 'Capital', and translations of key texts by scholars like Marcello Musto and Elmar Altvater. She also engages in public intellectual work through interviews and book reviews in journals like niin & näin and Tutkimus & kritiikki.
