Paula Marques Alves

Paula Marques Alves is the CEO of iBET and Professor at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, serving as Principal Investigator at ITQB NOVA. She holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (1991), Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering (2001), and Habilitation in Bioengineering (2024) from NOVA University of Lisbon.

Her research focuses on biomanufacturing, advanced biotherapeutics, and bridging academia with industry. Key areas include viral vector production, stem cell bioreactor systems, and regenerative medicine applications. She leads the Cell Bioprocesses Lab and has published over 350 papers and 32 book chapters.
