Paula Jackson is a Professor of Biology at Kennesaw State University, affiliated with the College of Science and Mathematics and the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology. Her research focuses on plant ecology and physiology, particularly the relationship between water availability, photosynthetic rates, and plant distribution patterns.
- BIOL 1108 - Principles of Modern Biology II
- BIOL 4490 - Tropical Ecology
- BIOL 3370 & BIOL 3370L - Ecology & Ecology Lab
- SCI 1101 - Science, Society, and the Environment I
- SCI 1102 - Science, Society, and the Environment II
Her work incorporates classical ecological methods (quadrats, transects) and advanced techniques like stable isotope analysis (δ13C for water use efficiency, δD for water source determination). She has investigated water acquisition patterns in tropical dry forests of the Yucatan Peninsula and studied drought responses in native Georgia trees.
Scientific awards include:
- NSF RUI grant #0516387 for "Differences in Source Water Use of Woody Vegetation in Dzibilchatun, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico"
- NSF grant #0942085 for "WIKIed Biology"
- Incentive Grant for Engaged Teaching, Scholarship, and Service
