Paula England is a Professor of Sociology and Dean of Social Sciences at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), affiliated with New York University’s College of Arts and Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology (1975) and M.A. in Social Sciences (1972) from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology (1971) from Whitman College. Her research focuses on gender inequality, family dynamics, care work, sexual behavior, and intersections of gender with race and class. Notable works include analyzing the gender gap in voting, marital status effects on political leanings, and cohort trends in sexual behavior. She has contributed to debates on the stalled gender revolution and socioeconomic disparities in family structures.
Her recent scholarship explores topics like wealth-divorce correlations, premarital sex trends, and systemic devaluation of care work.
