معرفی
Paul White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa, affiliated with Health Canada's Environmental Health Sciences & Research Bureau. He holds memberships in the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Biology (IBOC), Ottawa-Carleton Graduate Program in Chemistry and Environmental Toxicology (CET), and the Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Genomics (CAREG). His research focuses on mutagenic contaminants in environmental matrices, leveraging chemical, genetic, and genomic techniques to evaluate health risks.
Paul earned a BSc in Microbiology & Immunology (1989) and a PhD in Environmental Toxicology (1996) from McGill University. He completed post-doctoral fellowships at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (1996-1999) and Health Canada (1999-2001).
His research interests include environmental chemistry, persistent organic pollutants, and genetic toxicity. Projects include developing in vitro systems for genetic toxicity assessment and analyzing air particulate mutagenicity. Recent work explores high-throughput testing platforms and dose-response metrics for regulatory risk assessment.
Paul has advised numerous graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Current lab members include Dr. Alexandra Long (Research Biologist) and PhD student Julie Cox. Past advisees now hold roles in Health Canada, academia, and industry.
He collaborates closely with Health Canada’s Environmental and Radiation Health Sciences Directorate, contributing to regulatory evaluations of environmental contaminants.
