Paul Tangney

Dr. Paul Tangney is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, with a joint appointment in the Physics department. He holds affiliations with the Condensed Matter Theory Group and The Matter Community. His research focuses on theoretical and computational studies in Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Physics, and interdisciplinary fields.

Education:

• Bachelor's and Master's in Physics from University College Cork.
• PhD in Condensed Matter Theory from SISSA (Trieste), with research at Princeton University (2001-2002) as a visiting technical staff member and graduate student.
• Postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley/Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (2002-2007), including work at the Molecular Foundry Theory Facility.

Research Interests: Broad areas include electronic/magnetic properties of materials, superconductivity, electrostatics, statistical mechanics, and quantum mechanics. His work bridges physics, chemistry, and materials science.
