Paul T. Jaeger is a Professor and Distinguished Scholar-Teacher in the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland. He currently serves as Director of the Museum Scholarship and Material Culture Graduate Certificate Program and Associate Director of the Maryland Initiative for Digital Accessibility (MIDA). Previously, he directed the MLIS Program. His research focuses on the impacts of law and policy on information access, with emphases on human rights, civil rights, and digital inclusion. He holds advanced degrees including a PhD, JD, MLS from Florida State University and an M.Ed from the University of North Florida.
Dr. Jaeger has authored 20 books and over 200 articles/chapters, including works like Foundations of Information Policy and Libraries and the Global Retreat of Democracy. His research is funded by major organizations including the National Science Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He founded the Conference on Inclusion and Diversity in Library and Information Science (CIDLIS) and co-founded the Including Disability Global Summit. Notably, he was recognized as one of the two most influential public library researchers in the past 35 years (2019) and his work holds the highest prestige value in the field (2020).
His professional roles include editorial positions at Library Quarterly and Including Disability. He is currently not accepting new PhD students.
