Paul Stavrinou is an Associate Professor in Photonics and Fellow of Lincoln College at the University of Oxford. He holds a visiting Professorship at the University of Montreal and is a co-investigator at the Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR). His research focuses on polymer science, organic electronics, and nanophotonics, with contributions to optoelectronic devices, light-matter interaction, and advanced materials. Previously, he was a Reader in Physics and Director of the Plastic Electronics Centre for Doctoral Training at Imperial College London. He has received the EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship and the Leadership in Education Award from FlexTech Alliance. His work spans photovoltaic devices, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and solution-processed optical structures.
Education: BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from South Bank Polytechnic, PhD from University College London (with a Collaborative Award in Science and Engineering from RSRE). Postdoctoral roles at UCL, Oxford, and Imperial College London.
Research interests include polymer semiconductor microstructure, plasmonics, and bio-inspired materials. His articles highlight innovations in light regulation, nanoscale patterning, and high-efficiency optoelectronic systems. Awards reflect recognition of his contributions to education and materials innovation.
Collaborations include the PE-CDT (Plastic Electronics Centre for Doctoral Training) and cross-faculty initiatives like the Centre for Plastic Electronics. His work bridges fundamental materials science with applied technologies, emphasizing scalable manufacturing and functional device design.
