Paul Semenza is Chair of the Department of Engineering Management and Leadership at the School of Engineering, Santa Clara University, and an independent consultant specializing in market research, strategic planning, and technology assessment for high-tech industries. His career spans roles in academia, public-private partnerships, and technology policy.
- Education: M.P.P. from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government (1994), M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Electro-optics) from Tufts University (1990), and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University (1985).
Semenza's research interests focus on technology commercialization, innovation management, and leadership in engineering. His work bridges policy, market strategy, and advanced manufacturing, particularly in flexible hybrid electronics and semiconductor industries.
Scientific Awards:
- 2017-18 Adjunct Lecturer of the Year, School of Engineering.
He has taught courses such as EMGT 352: Marketing of High-Tech Products & Innovations and EMGT 323: Management of Technological Innovation. Prior to his academic roles, Semenza founded NextFlex in 2015 and held leadership positions at The NPD Group, iSuppli Corporation, and the National Research Council.
