Paul S. Dean is Professor of Sociology and current Department Chair at Ohio Wesleyan University. He serves as adviser for the Social Justice major and specializes in first-generation students, social inequality, race/ethnicity, globalization, and social movements.

His groundbreaking research explores cultural capital in social mobility, with forthcoming work analyzing how working-class first-gen graduates leverage their backgrounds as strengths. He co-created The Sociological Cinema, an innovative teaching platform using media for sociology education.
Recent publications examine antiracism pedagogy impacts (2024), globalization theory (2022, 2019), and educational travel equity (2020). His work has earned multiple institutional awards including Faculty of the Year and Racial/Cultural Diversity honors.
