Paul Reck is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the School of Social Science and Human Services (SSHS) at Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he has been teaching since 2009. His academic work focuses on the intersections of race, class, and gender in shaping structural inequality within the criminal justice system.

His teaching spans courses in Criminology, Sociology of Deviance, Race Relations, and Social Issues. His research examines how local contexts influence law enforcement perceptions of racial groups, contributing to systemic biases in criminal justice practices.
Reck’s recent publication from 2008, presented at the Graduate Forum on Race and Ethnicity, analyzes the role of environmental factors in shaping police perspectives. He is also working on a study titled “Determining Who’s Salvageable: Officers’ Proactive Mentoring Efforts with Youths,” which extends his focus on justice system dynamics.
Outside academia, Reck engages in physical fitness, elementary school afterschool tutoring, and seasonal art displays. He maintains office hours on Fridays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in G247, Mahwah, NJ.
