Paul O’Dette is a Professor of Lute and Professor of Conducting & Ensembles at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He also serves as Director of Early Music and Affiliate Faculty in Musicology and Voice, Opera & Vocal Coaching. His expertise spans Baroque performance practices, Italian/English solo song, and Baroque opera direction. Notable achievements include Grammy wins, Echo Klassik Awards, and leadership in festivals like the Boston Early Music Festival. His recordings, such as Charpentier’s La Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers, have garnered critical acclaim. O’Dette’s research includes publications on historical performance practices and co-authoring the Dowland entry in the New Grove Dictionary.
