Paul Newbury is a Professor of Digital Media Systems in the Department of Informatics at the University of Sussex's School of Engineering and Informatics. He holds a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Brighton University), MSc in Intelligent Systems (Plymouth University), and PhD (Bradford University). As Chair of the Informatics Board of Studies, he oversees multiple degree programs including BSc Computer Science and MSc Computing with Digital Media.
His research specializes in Technology Enhanced Learning systems, with expertise in:
- Adaptive and collaborative e-learning frameworks
- Game-based educational applications
- Assistive technologies for dyslexic students
- Arabic language learning tools via touchscreen interfaces
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) integration
