Paul Mullan is an Honorary Professor of Practice at Queen's Business School, part of Queen's University Belfast. He holds an honorary role within the Honorary and Emeritus Staff category. His academic background includes studies at Queen’s University Belfast, Trinity College Dublin, and Ulster University, culminating in a 2021 doctorate exploring how the past is remembered in divided societies. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Ulster University.
Mullan has extensive experience in heritage, tourism, and conservation projects, with advisory roles on Ministerial groups including the Culture, Arts and Heritage Taskforce and the Irish Government’s Expert Advisory Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage. He chairs the Decade of Centenaries Roundtable, supporting civic organizations in navigating historical memory. His professional role includes leading as Northern Ireland Director of The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
His research interests intersect heritage policy, community engagement with history, and societal division, reflected through his doctoral work and advisory engagements.
