Professor Paul Loh is the Head of the Abedian School of Architecture and lead coordinator of the Architecture Futures Laboratory at Bond University. He has held senior roles at the University of Melbourne, including Senior Lecturer in Digital Architecture Design, Assistant Dean (IT), and co-director of the Advanced Digital Design and Fabrication (ADD+F) research hub.
- PhD, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University
- Diploma Professional Practice in Architecture (RIBA Part III), University of Westminster
- Master of Architecture and Urbanism, The Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture
- Diploma in Architecture, University of East London
- Bachelor of Planning and Design (Architecture), University of Melbourne
His research focuses on automation in construction, particularly how robotic technology and advanced manufacturing can reduce design waste. Key areas include flexible formwork, digital craft, and sustainable construction methods using IoT and AR/VR. He also explores cognitive engagement with digital technology in design education.
The trends in his research outputs highlight innovations in composite material fabrication, waste reduction in concrete casting, and technology-driven educational models. Recent works emphasize posthumanist approaches to digital design and material experimentation at Bond University’s Gold Coast campus.
- Commercialized patent technology for flexible formwork
- 2023 FSD Deans Award Research Grant
Paul actively supervises HDR students and collaborates on projects related to disability-inclusive learning spaces, disaster-resilient construction, and robotics-enabled fabrication. His work spans academic research, industry partnerships, and media outreach.
