Dr. Paul Leslie Simpson is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Population Health, UNSW Sydney, and affiliated with the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Offender Health. His work focuses on health, marginalization, and ethics among justice-involved populations, with specific interests in violence, sexual health, infectious diseases in prisons, and prison alternatives.

Dr. Simpson is a leading expert in justice health, conducting both quantitative and qualitative research to address systemic inequities in prisoner healthcare. His work extends to deliberative research methods, engaging stakeholders such as the public, incarcerated individuals, and policymakers to shape health policies.
