Paul Lennard is a Professor and Assistant Director of Neuroethics at Emory University, serving as Director of the Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology (NBB) Program since its founding in 1997. He co-directs the NSF-funded Center for Behavioral Neuroscience and previously served as Associate Director of Emory's Graduate Program in Neuroscience. His research focuses on neural control of locomotion, sensorimotor integration, and vertebrate myogenesis, complemented by interdisciplinary work in neuroethics. Dr. Lennard is a recipient of the Emory Williams Distinguished Teaching Award, reflecting his commitment to education. He teaches signature NBB courses such as Perspectives in Neuroscience & Behavior and The Musical Brain, integrating cutting-edge science with ethical and historical perspectives.
He has engaged in international collaborations, including teaching neuroscience to Tibetan Monks as a Sager Foundation Fellow. His academic leadership has positioned the NBB program as a premier undergraduate neuroscience destination, attracting top-tier students nationally.
