Paul Kinahan is an Adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of Washington's College of Arts & Sciences and holds a joint appointment as Professor of Radiology. He leads the Imaging Research Laboratory at UW and has been recognized with the IEEE-NPSS Young Investigator Award. His research focuses on clinical and advanced medical imaging physics, including multimodality imaging systems, statistical reconstruction methods, and oncology applications.
Education:
- Ph.D., Bioengineering, University of Pennsylvania
- BASc and MASc, Engineering Physics, University of British Columbia
Research Interests: Kinahan’s work spans multimodality imaging integration, PET/CT scanner optimization, and quantitative oncology analysis. He pioneered early PET/CT development at the University of Pittsburgh before joining UW in 2001.
