Paul Hippenmeyer

Paul Hippenmeyer is an Adjunct Professor in the Management Department at the University of Missouri’s Robert J. Trulaske Sr. College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology (St. Louis University, 1984) and an MBA (University of Missouri-St. Louis, 2006). His career spans over 30 years in academia and industry, focusing on biomedical technologies, drug discovery, and technology commercialization.

Before academia, Hippenmeyer served as Business Development Director at Washington University in St. Louis (until 2020) and Senior Licensing Associate at the University of Missouri (2009–2015), where he evaluated and licensed biomedical innovations. His industry experience includes roles at Monsanto, Searle, and Pharmacia, where he led oncology research and antiviral drug discovery programs. Notably, he held the Science Fellow title in oncology drug development and directed global collaborations in protease inhibitor research.

His research interests emphasize translational medicine, with a focus on therapeutics, diagnostics, and biomarkers. He has authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications and patents, contributing to advancements in cytomegalovirus protease inhibition and recombinant protein production. His work bridges academia and industry, promoting technology transfer and startup mentorship.
