Paul Gordon Ross

Paul Gordon Ross is an Associate Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. He has served as Director of Year 4 Curriculum since 2008 and previously held roles as Director of Clinical Relations (2009–2018). Ross holds a DVM from the University of California, Davis (1999), an MS in Animal Science (1995), and a BS in Biology (1992), all from UC Davis and UC Riverside. He is pursuing a PhD in Education and Higher Education Leadership at Colorado State University (expected 2021).

His teaching philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning, informed by Harvard Macy Institute programs and constructivist theories of education. He prioritizes experiential learning, social constructivism, and adapting to digital-native learners. His research focuses on veterinary education methodologies, clinical skills training, and student development.

Ross has contributed to studies on laparoscopic skills training via video games, shelter medicine externships, equine spine physiology, and pharmacology education. His professional experience includes roles as an associate veterinarian in equine and small animal practices before transitioning to academia.
