معرفی
Paul Else is an Honorary Fellow at the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences, University of Wollongong. His research focuses on membrane lipid composition, metabolic processes, and their implications for aging, health, and disease. He has led studies on phospholipid dynamics in human brain regions, honeybee longevity, and the effects of dietary fatty acids on metabolic health. His work bridges biological and clinical research, with a particular emphasis on lipidomics and metabolic rate regulation.
**Research Interests:** Membrane biology, fatty acid metabolism, aging mechanisms, and metabolic disorders. His studies explore how membrane lipid composition influences energy expenditure, lifespan, and disease progression in diverse organisms, from humans to insects.
**Funding & Grants:** Paul has secured funding for projects such as 'Food supply, diet and membrane lipids and the determination of metabolic rate' (ARC, 2007–2009) and contributed to equipment grants for advanced mass spectrometry and metabolic analysis tools. He currently coordinates the Metabolic Research Centre, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
**Advisory Role:** Supervised multiple PhD students investigating topics like phospholipid changes during brain aging, honeybee longevity, and fatty acid impacts on metabolic health. His research highlights the critical role of membrane lipids in regulating physiological processes.
**Labs & Teams:** Leads the Metabolic Research Centre, focusing on translational research in lipid metabolism and its clinical applications.
