Paul Draper is Professor Emeritus of Acting and former Chair (2005-2012) of the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance at Sonoma State University. As Director of the Acting Program, he taught Theatre History, Acting Fundamentals, Text and Scene Study, Characterization, Shakespeare, Anti-Realism, Comedy, and Directing Workshop. He directed numerous productions including Hamlet, Amadeus, Cabaret, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
His professional background includes serving as resident director with Minneapolis' Guthrie Theater, teaching at the University of Tennessee and University of Minnesota, and co-founding the Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble. He holds an MFA in Directing from Columbia University and BSS in Theatre Studies/Acting from Northwestern University. He is a member and past Vice President for Advocacy of the Association of Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).
