Paul David Ledger is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Leicester, joining in August 2024. He holds honorary positions at Swansea University and Keele University. His interdisciplinary work bridges Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering. He completed his PhD in Computational Electromagnetism at Swansea University in 2002, earning the inaugural ECCOMAS best PhD Thesis award. Postdoctoral roles included positions at ETH Zurich and Zurich University of Applied Sciences. From 2006–2020, he served as Lecturer and Associate Professor at Swansea University’s Zienkiewicz Institute for Modelling, Data & AI. He was promoted to Professor of Computational Mathematics at Keele University (2020–2024).
Education: PhD in Computational Electromagnetism (Swansea University, 2002).
Research focuses on computational methods in engineering and applied mathematics, with contributions to computational electromagnetism and interdisciplinary computational science. Professional memberships include the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), and the London Mathematical Society. He serves as the UK Association of Computational Mechanics representative at the University of Leicester.
Awards and honors include Chartered Mathematician status, Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and sustained recognition in computational mechanics.
