معرفی
Paul J. Cullen is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University at Buffalo, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on signal transduction pathways, particularly MAPK pathways in yeast, which regulate cell polarity, differentiation, and stress responses. His lab studies how these pathways control filamentous growth and pathogenicity in fungi, with a focus on the role of signaling mucins like Msb2 and the Rho GTPase Cdc42. He has received awards including the Distinguished Post Doc Mentor Award and UB Exceptional Scholar — Sustained Achievement Award.
- Education: PhD from Washington University in Saint Louis, BA from the University of Illinois.
- Labs: Cullen Lab, focusing on yeast signaling and fungal pathogenesis.
- Awards:
- Distinguished Post Doc Mentor Award
- Milton Plesur Excellence in Teaching Award
- UB Exceptional Scholar — Sustained Achievement Award
His research uses genomic, proteomic, and bioinformatics tools to identify pathway regulators and understand how MAPK pathways integrate environmental signals. Recent work includes studying Cdc42 turnover and the role of NADPH oxidases in stress responses.
