Paul Bowen

Paul Bowen is a Visiting Professor at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the EDMX-ENS doctoral program until October 2024. His research focuses on computational and experimental materials science, specializing in nanostructured materials, cement chemistry, and biomaterials. He employs atomic-level simulations and advanced characterization to study hydration mechanisms, nanoparticle interactions, and ceramic biocompatibility.

Bowen's research bridges computational modeling and experimental synthesis, with emphasis on:

• Cementitious systems (hydration kinetics, superplasticizers)
• Nanomaterial design (surface properties, atomic structure)
• Bioceramics (osteoclastic resorption, phase transformations)

He leads a research group that has produced significant work on force field development for materials simulations, with publications demonstrating consistent focus on atomic-scale phenomena in construction materials and biomedically relevant ceramics over the past three years.
