Andrea Testino

Dr. Andrea Testino is a Senior Scientist at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) and a Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He leads the Advanced Nanopowders Synthesis Laboratory at PSI and collaborates with industrial partners on ceramic synthesis, processing, and characterization.

His research focuses on nanoparticle synthesis and characterization, nucleation/growth mechanisms of inorganic materials, and scale-up technologies like Segmented Flow Tubular Reactor. He applies synchrotron-based in-situ techniques for time-resolved studies.

At EPFL, he teaches courses on ceramic technologies, colloidal processing, and synchrotron methods. His group investigates catalytic materials, sodium-ion battery components, and biomineral formation for medical devices. He holds >70 publications, 4200+ citations, and 14 patents, some worldwide granted.
