Professor Paul Babie holds the Bonython Chair in Law at the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide. He specializes in property theory, property law, and law and theology, exploring spatial dimensions of property and its justifications across legal and theological frameworks. Currently serving as Associate Dean of Law (International Development) and Director of the Research Unit for the Study of Society, Ethics, and Law (RUSSEL), he has held leadership roles including Associate Dean (Research) and Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching).
- Education: BA (Sociology & Political Science, University of Calgary), BThSt (Flinders University), LLB (University of Alberta), LLM (University of Melbourne), DPhil (Law, University of Oxford).
- Research Interests: Property law theory, law and religion, Roman law, and globalisation’s impact on legal systems.
His work appears in leading journals such as the North Carolina Law Review and Melbourne University Law Review. He has authored major property law textbooks and holds editorial roles in legal publications. Awards include the ALEA Excellence in Research Supervision (2021) and Fellowships from the Royal Society of Arts and Australian Academy of Law.
