Dr. Paul B. Tchounwou is a Presidential Distinguished Professor at Jackson State University, affiliated with the Department of Biology in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. He directs the RCMI Center for Health Disparities Research and leads the Molecular Toxicology Research Laboratory and Environmental Toxicology Research Laboratory within the NIH-Center for Environmental Health.
His research focuses on environmental health, gene-environment interactions, environmental toxicology, and ecological risk assessment, with applications to health disparities and environmental medicine. Recent work includes systematic reviews on nanoplastics and parabens in aquatic systems, AI's role in healthcare during pandemics, and apoptosis induction in cancer cells via natural compounds.
