معرفی
Associate Professor Paul Austin is affiliated with the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. His research focuses on neuro-immune mechanisms underlying chronic neuropathic pain, particularly exploring inflammatory mediators and their roles in affective disabilities and motor deficits. He teaches neuroanatomy and neuroscience to medical and science students, specializing in basal ganglia anatomy and nociceptive pathways.
Current research projects investigate neuroimmune interactions in chronic pain and neurodegeneration, using rodent models to study behavioral changes and immune activation in human conditions like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). His work integrates neuroanatomical, immunohistochemical, and imaging techniques.
- Grants:
- 2022: Machine learning-based disease models for spinal cord imaging
- 2021: CRPS immune-autonomic dysfunction analysis
- 2019: Photobiomodulation in Sanfilippo syndrome
- Students: Supervising Fred COLLIN, Dolores HUANG, and Jackson KARRASCH on neuroimmune mechanisms, CRPS imaging, and high-parameter cytometry.
- Labs: Focuses on neuroinflammation, pain biomarkers, and translational neuroimmunology.
