Paul Abba

Paul Abba is a Senior Lecturer at the Law School within the School of Business, Education and Law at the University of Huddersfield. He is an active member of the Centre for Sustainability, Responsibility, Governance and Ethics and the Centre for Law, Environment and Rights (CLEAR). He holds a PhD in Environmental Law from the University of Exeter and is currently accepting PhD students in his areas of expertise.

Paul's research focuses on environmental law, energy and natural resources law, sustainable development, and legal frameworks in developing countries. He also specializes in criminal law and the criminal justice system, teaching foundational modules such as Torts, Equity and Trusts, and Land and Property Law. His interdisciplinary work contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to justice, strong institutions, and sustainable communities.

His recent publications explore judicial institutions in developing nations, industrial relations in Nigeria, and the role of law in sustainable development. Both publications reflect a strong commitment to legal reform, institutional effectiveness, and justice in the Global South.

Paul supervises PhD students and is actively involved in research projects related to environmental governance, legal empowerment, and industrial justice. He is affiliated with key research centers and contributes to academic discourse through publications, supervision, and policy-relevant research. His work bridges legal theory and practical application in both developed and developing contexts.

He is a member of CLEAR and the Centre for Sustainability, Responsibility, Governance and Ethics, where he collaborates on interdisciplinary research addressing global challenges in law, ethics, and environmental policy.
