Patrizia Lombardi is a Full Professor at the Interuniversity Department of Territorial Sciences, Planning and Policies (DIST) at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where she also serves as Vice Rector for Sustainable Campus and Living Lab. She is a member of the Interdepartmental Center R3C - Responsible Risk Resilience Center and the GEDI Observatory for Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Previously, she served as Pro Rector and Director of the Interuniversity Department of Territorial Sciences, Projects and Policies from 2012 to 2018.
Dr. Lombardi holds a degree in Architecture, a Master's in Regional Planning and Real Estate, and a PhD in Business and Informatics from Salford University of the Great Manchester (UK). She founded and chaired the RUS - Network of Universities for Sustainable Development for six years from 2014 to 2019 and currently chairs the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Italy Chapter. Her extensive public service includes membership in the Technical Mission Structure of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Permanent Control Structure of TELT company during the Draghi Government.
Her research focuses on sustainable development, resilience, complexity, and the evaluation of plans and projects. She develops interactive and participatory decision support tools, including Multicriteria-based Spatial Decision Support Systems, and systems for measuring the social value of urban regeneration programs. Her work explores ESG sustainability through tools for selecting and weighing KPIs. Her research spans circular economy, smart cities, sustainable campus development, transformative resilience, and the transition towards sustainable development.
Dr. Lombardi's publications reveal a strong focus on sustainability assessment methods, circular economy applications, and urban resilience. Her work integrates environmental, social, and governance considerations with spatial analysis and decision support methodologies. She has made significant contributions to understanding how to measure and implement sustainability in built environments and urban contexts.

Dr. Lombardi has advised numerous PhD students working on topics related to sustainable urban development, spatial decision support systems, ESG frameworks, and urban regeneration. She has coordinated and participated in numerous research projects funded by competitive calls, including EU Horizon 2020 projects like SHAPE-ENERGY, POCACITO, and MILESECURE-2050, as well as national projects like AGRITECH and NEB (The New European Bauhaus).
She is actively involved in several research laboratories and networks, including S3+LAB (DIST), the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy, and the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS). Her leadership extends to coordinating the Green Team at the Polytechnic University of Turin and participating in various strategic initiatives for sustainable campus development.
