Patrizia Daniele is a Full Professor of Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Catania. She serves as Director of the INDAM (Institute of High Mathematics) Research Unit at the University of Catania since November 2023, Students' Ombudsperson for the DMI (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science) for the 2024-27 term, and Delegate of CINAP (Center for Active and Participatory Inclusion) since October 2023. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Society of Operational Research (AIRO) and the ASN Committee in Operations Research (2021-2023).
- Degree in Mathematics, University of Catania, July 1995. Thesis: 'Variational Inequalities and Duality'
- PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Naples 'Federico II', March 2000. Thesis: 'Variational Inequalities and Duality. Applications to Equilibrium Problems'
Her research focuses on equilibrium problems, variational inequalities, and duality theory with applications to traffic, financial, and supply chain networks. She has explored projected dynamical systems, infinite-dimensional duality, and network models under uncertainty, including pandemic-related supply chains and cybersecurity frameworks. Her work bridges operations research with environmental risk analysis and humanitarian logistics.
Scientific awards include the 1996 'Gioacchino Iapichino' award from Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and a 2003 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Fellowship. She has organized international workshops on variational analysis and applications, including events in Erice, Taormina, and Rome.
