Patrik Illo

Patrik Illo is an Associate Professor and Head of the Studio of Glass at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (AFAD) in Bratislava. He concurrently serves as Lead Designer at RONA Glassworks in Lednické Rovne, where he oversees innovation and international symposiums. His academic career began in 2010, focusing on teaching glass design and bridging industrial production with artistic expression.

Education: Graduated from AFAD's Department of Glass Design (1992–1998). Professional Experience: Post-graduation, worked at RONA (1998–2006), Czech glassworks Moser Květná, and Polish Krosno Glassworks (2006–2009). Since 2008, he has led RONA’s design innovation, maintaining its position as a global leader in glass technology.

Research Interests: Explore the intersection of traditional glassmaking with modern techniques, emphasizing design as emotional communication. Projects include utility glassware (e.g., Lasvit cups) and conceptual installations (e.g., 'Big Liar' series).

Awards: Recognized internationally for designs at Frankfurt’s Ambiente and Design Plus awards. Curates the Lednické Rovne International Glass Symposium, fostering global collaboration.

Labs/Teams: Oversees the Glass Studio at AFAD and collaborates with designer Alexandra Stencel under the ILLOLA project, blending utility and artistic expression.
