Norbert Lacko

Norbert Lacko is an Assistant Professor and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (VŠVU), affiliated with the Department of Theory and History of Art. His work focuses on art theory, cultural studies, and the history of Slovak art, particularly modern and contemporary movements. He has co-authored influential publications such as Oskár Čepan a výtvarné umenie (2019), a two-volume edition analyzing the art-theoretical contributions of Oskar Čepan, and Šťastie je na dosah (2017), a monograph on artist Erik Šille. His research emphasizes critical analysis of Slovak artistic culture and its socio-political contexts. Lacko’s academic roles include overseeing academic affairs at VŠVU and teaching courses on art criticism, theory, and contemporary practices.
