Patrick Ryan Cooper is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Saint Martin’s University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He also serves as Director of the Benedictine Institute and the Spiritual Life Institute.

His research focuses on the intersection of mystical theology, systematics, and contemporary philosophy of religion, particularly the revival of metaphysics. He specializes in Trinitarian Ontology and contributes to lectures and conferences in North America and Europe. His areas of expertise include Spiritual Theology (Patristic, Medieval, 20th Century) with an emphasis on the works of Jan van Ruusbroec.
Cooper teaches introductory and advanced theology courses to undergraduate students and provides continuing intellectual formation to junior monks from the Abbey. His current projects involve ongoing research and publications on Trinitarian Ontology.
