معرفی
Dr. Patrick Parkinson is a Lecturer in Photonic Materials at the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Manchester, and part of the Photon Physics Group. His research focuses on optoelectronic nanomaterials, particularly III-V semiconductor nanowires, ultrafast carrier dynamics, and advanced spectroscopic techniques. He leads a group developing automated high-throughput methods for nanowire characterization, combining machine vision and big data analysis to optimize device performance. His work spans nanowire lasers, quantum dots, and photovoltaic materials.
Dr. Parkinson holds a DPhil in Ultrafast Spectroscopy from Oxford University (2009), with postdoctoral experience at Oxford, Australian National University, and Manchester. He has pioneered statistical approaches to nanowire heterogeneity and surface effects, with applications in terahertz detectors and quantum technologies. His group offers PhD projects in novel spectroscopic methods, nanowire device optimization, and 3D optoelectronic characterization.
Recent research highlights include wafer-scale nanowire optoelectronics, spin-photon interfaces in quantum dots, and Bayesian optimization of microring lasers. Collaborations span materials science, photonics, and quantum engineering. His equipment includes high-throughput micro-photoluminescence systems and scanning photocurrent microscopes.
